Adverb หรือ กริยาวิเศษณ์ เป็นคำที่ขยายความให้กับคำกริยา มีสองแบบ

1. เติม –ly ลงท้ายคำคุณศัพท์ เช่น quick – quickly, slow – slowly, clear – clearly, frequent – frequently

2. คำคุณศัพท์บางคำ เป็นคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ด้วย เช่น fast – fast, straight – straight, hard – hard. แบบฝึกหัด 1. ให้เปลี่ยนประโยคที่ใช้คำคุณศัพท์ เป็นคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ ดังตัวอย่าง

He is a slow learner. He leans slowly.
